Salary Range: $65,000.00 To $85,000.00 Annually

Purpose: At Five Star Bank, our success is built on trusted relationships, local decision-making, and a commitment to delivering outstanding financial solutions. As a Portfolio Manager, Commercial Banking, you will work closely with Relationship Managers and clients to support a portfolio of commercial relationships, providing financial analysis, credit expertise, and ongoing portfolio management. This role is integral to helping businesses grow while maintaining the strong credit quality and customer-focused approach that define Five Star Bank.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for supporting Relationship Managers (RM) along with Credit Administration with maintenance of assigned customer relationships. Assists with the gathering of financial and general business information and other required information as dictated by the loan documents.

  • Facilitates the preparation of credit underwriting and analysis of existing loans in connection with reviews, renewals and modifications. This also requires assessing and ensuring risk rating is appropriately assigned.

  • Prepares and conducts periodic reviews of commercial loans and credit facilities to assess portfolio performance and credit quality, monitor financial covenant compliance, and analyze customer-provided reporting to evaluate borrowing base availability and ongoing financial performance.

  • Spreads financial statements (both existing and prospects) into bank’s internal models including year end, interim, and projection numbers.

  • Provides monthly reports and assistance in monitoring maturing loans and lines of credit.

  • Assists in facilitating closing transactions by reviewing all loan documentation (back-up function).

  • Monitors the appraisal and environmental review process as requested through our outside vendor partner and communicates with RM’s as required.

  • Maintains clean credit files and ensures all pertinent documents are timely filed in the appropriate section.

  • Tracks and monitors monthly policy exceptions, resolving collateral exceptions, as well as loan review exceptions.

  • Attends client/prospect calls with Relationship Manager’s as directed.

  • Demonstrates the standards and principles of the Five Star Bank experience in every interaction with internal and external customers and associates. Incorporates the high performance behaviors of teamwork, leading by example and service in every facet of work.

Job Related Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree

  • Prior Experience: 3+ years of financial analysis or credit analysis or prior portfolio management experience in Financial Services

Competencies:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey complex financial and credit information to clients, colleagues, and senior leadership.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn and effectively utilize banking, credit, and portfolio management systems.

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, Relationship Managers, credit partners, and colleagues across all levels of the organization.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate financial information, identify risks, and exercise sound business judgment.

  • Working knowledge of commercial credit principles, lending policies and procedures, financial statement analysis, and basic accounting concepts.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commitment to providing outstanding service to both internal and external customers while supporting a relationship-focused banking culture.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to travel occasionally throughout corporate footprint.

  • Extensive computer usage is required.

Compensation offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education and, where applicable, licenses or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to your base rate of pay and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates may be eligible to receive cash or equity-based incentives based on the role and performance.
