Job Description

American Greetings is seeking a highly motivated Plant Engineer, working out of our Distribution Center in Danville, Kentucky.

The successful applicant will be responsible for driving organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives across Distribution Center operations. You will support operational leadership in their mission to consistently distribute products efficiently with lower costs, ultimately contributing to increased customer satisfaction and company profitability.

You will evaluate, review, and revise existing processes, systems, and equipment as needed to ensure optimal distribution methods are achieved. You will also lead and support engineering initiatives focused on improving operational efficiency, productivity, safety, quality, and overall distribution performance while helping the organization adapt to evolving business needs and best practices.

General Duties:

  • Develops and leads project work across multiple disciplines and multiple plant locations.

  • Responsible for the conception, development, justification and implementation of distribution processes.

  • Interacts and engages with all facility engineers and shop floor personnel to monitor and manage operational processes.

  • Responsible for defining, planning and executing continuous improvement projects by leveraging project management skills, shop floor experience and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Leads activities to improve production and equipment capabilities through application of lean manufacturing principles.

  • Reviews new technologies to benchmark capabilities, ensuring optimal processes are achieved and maintained.

  • Will work in a fast-paced environment with high-profile exposure and engagement with local and corporate leadership.

  • Travel requirements are 5% to 10% to facilitate cross-functional site initiatives.

  • Must be able to manage multiple initiatives and communicate progress to engineering leadership and shop floor stakeholders.

  • All other duties as assigned.
