Join Our Team as a Human Resources Intern (Onboarding)!

Are you interested in the Human Resources field and making a real difference in the nonprofit sector? EAC Network, a leading not-for-profit social service agency dedicated to helping over 79,000 people through 100 impactful programs across Long Island and NYC, is looking for a Human Resources Intern for Onboarding to join the HR department. The Internship opportunity is unpaid offering a fantastic opportunity for students seeking college credit or course requirements.

Salary: Unpaid

Schedule: Flexibility to work up to 20 hours per week. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM

Location: 99 Quentin Roosevelt Blvd Suite 200 in Garden City, NY

What drives the core purpose of this job:

The goal of the internship is for the intern to be engaged in learning & understanding the functions of HR, Onboarding and Recruitment within the Human Resources Department.

What are the key responsibilities:

  • Assist with pre-hire onboarding process:

  • Assist with conducting pre-employment checks.

  • Gather candidate paperwork e-filing into digital employee files.

  • Prepare new hire orientation packets.

  • Prepare onboarding kits (stationary, t-shirts, company swag)

  • Assisting Onboarding Manager during new hire orientation.

  • Coordinate New Hire Training Plan completion.

  • Assist in processing I-9 and E-verification documents.

  • Assist with Recruiting efforts such as:

  • Constructing recruiting flyers.

  • Assist in other areas of HR department with clerical workload as needed.

  • Perform all other relevant duties as determined by Supervision and EAC NETWORK Administration.

What key knowledge, skills, and abilities are required to excel in this role:

  • Some knowledge of computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments a big plus.

  • Must have pleasant phone manner and good interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Able to conduct self in a professional manner.
