The Spartech Greenville Ohio facility manufactures a variety of specialty plastic products across various markets. The Quality Associate is responsible for ensuring all products manufactured at the Greenville facility meet Spartech and customer requirements through product inspection, line audits, process verification, testing evaluation, product release, and quality system activities.
This position is primarily manufacturing floor based and works directly with production personnel to verify product quality, approve product for shipment, identify nonconforming material, troubleshoot quality concerns, support operator training, and ensure compliance with customer specifications and internal requirements.
The Quality Associate serves as a key quality resource within manufacturing operations and is responsible for final quality approval of finished products prior to shipment.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Inspection and Line Audits

Perform continuous line audits throughout the shift.

Conduct first-piece and final-piece approval inspections on production runs.

Approve product prior to pallet wrapping and banding.
-
Verify all dimensional requirements including thickness, width, length, and customer-specific tolerances.
-
Evaluate color, appearance, gloss, opacity, and overall product quality.
-
Ensure all customer specifications and requirements are met.
-
Verify all required testing has been completed and meets acceptance criteria.

Record inspection results and maintain quality records.
-
Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming conditions.
Process Auditing and Compliance
-
Audit production paperwork for accuracy and completion.
-
Audit process logs for compliance with established requirements.
-
Audit material usage to ensure compliance with production standards.
-
Verify manufacturing processes remain within established operating parameters.
-
Ensure all required testing, inspections, and documentation are completed.
Quality Systems
-
Generate and maintain Nonconformance Reports (NCRs).
-
Participate in customer complaint investigations.
-
Conduct root cause analysis activities.
-
Assist with corrective and preventive action implementation.
-
Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility.
Calibration and Testing Equipment
- Perform daily calibration and verification checks of quality equipment.
Retain Sample Management
-
Ensure retain samples are collected during the production run.
-
Verify retain samples visually and dimensionally prior to approval.
Production Support
-
Work directly with operators and production personnel to troubleshoot quality concerns.
-
Assist with identifying process improvements and corrective actions.
-
Assist with daily line preparation including paperwork, pallets, and production organization.
-
Assist with wrapping and banding finished pallets following final quality approval when necessary.
Training and Development
-
Assist with training new Assistant Operators.

Provide ongoing quality guidance and coaching to production employees.

Promote quality awareness and adherence to customer requirements throughout the facility.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
-
High School Diploma or GED.
-
Manufacturing, production, quality inspection, or related industrial experience.
-
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
-
Ability to read and interpret specifications, work instructions, and quality requirements.
-
Basic computer skills and data entry experience.
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred
-
2-5 years of manufacturing quality, inspection, or production experience.
-
Plastic sheet, film, extrusion, converting, or related manufacturing experience.
-
SAP experience.
-
Ability to use measuring devices and inspection equipment. (micrometers and tape measures)
-
Color evaluation.
-
Experience performing process and product audits.
-
Root cause analysis and corrective action experience.
Physical Requirements
-
Frequent standing and walking throughout the manufacturing facility.
-
Frequent lifting, handling, and inspection of product samples.
-
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
-
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels.
-
Ability to work safely around moving production equipment.
