You will work directly with Airmen of the 93d Air Ground Operations Wing (93 AGOW) and 820th Base Defense Group (820 BDG), turning sound programming and hard data into measurable gains in strength, resilience, and operational readiness.

This is a hands-on role embedded within the organization. You will design the training, test the results, and help leaders understand what the numbers mean for the mission.

What You’ll Do

Program Design & Delivery

  • Establish and administer strength and conditioning protocols that maximize the physical performance of individual Airmen and support tactical conditioning.

  • Design and implement training programs covering functional movement, energy system development, strength, endurance, mobility, and power.

  • Design squadron-wide physical training sessions and monitor programs for personnel on temporary duty (TDY) or deployed at medical request.

  • Provide instruction and guidance on physical conditioning and injury prevention, and collaborate with a registered dietitian on nutrition education and evaluation.

Testing, Data & Reporting

  • Perform performance testing, including Occupational Specific Physical Fitness Assessments (OSPFA) and testing required for specialized training programs or schools.

  • Collect, analyze, and archive performance information:

  • Gather data through direct observation, interviews, surveys, and focused strength and conditioning testing.

  • Identify performance trends and prioritize physical and rehabilitation gaps across the unit.

  • Maintain trend and historical records in Microsoft Office applications; all work products are Government property.

  • Deliver routine fitness reports, a weekly status report for staff meetings, and quarterly analyses to the 93 AGOW Director of Human Performance and Command Psychologist.

  • Recommend corrective actions for issues or deficiencies that affect unit performance, readiness, or training, along with mitigation and prevention measures.

Injury Prevention & Return to Training

  • Coordinate individualized exercise programs for a safe and expeditious return to training after injury.

  • Maintain a professional relationship with the operators’ medical support staff and refer anyone with an apparent new or undiagnosed medical condition for evaluation.

  • Attend staff meetings with the squadron commander as needed to evaluate training programs and identify improvements.

Facility, Equipment & Operations

  • Keep equipment and facilities organized, clean, inspected, and safe, and report any equipment not in safe working order.

  • Assist with supply inventories and recommend optimal equipment and supplies.

  • Advise on the layout of the human performance facility and help develop facility standard operating procedures, guidelines, and exercise protocols.

  • Support occasional surge operations and, when authorized, CONUS travel in support of exercises, TDYs, and mission-related meetings.

Who You Are

  • A coach who thrives working with elite and tactical athletes and understands how physical readiness drives mission success.

  • Analytical and detail-oriented, comfortable turning testing data into clear recommendations for commanders.

  • A strong communicator who builds trust with operators and collaborates easily with medical, psychology, and command staff.

  • Physically capable and able to demonstrate every exercise and technique you prescribe, including in austere environments.

  • Reliable, professional, and comfortable working inside the DoD culture, policies, and processes.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in an accredited exercise physiology, exercise science, or health science–related discipline.

Certifications

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), current and maintained.

  • American Red Cross CPR/BLS/AED certification, current and maintained.

Experience

  • Creditable specialized experience includes:

  • Primary duties as a strength and conditioning coach, responsible for periodized programming and equipment procurement.

  • Work with elite athletes, defined as military special operations forces, professional, Olympic, or Division I collegiate athletes.

  • Able to complete and maintain a Tier 1 (T1) background investigation, including fingerprinting and an electronic application (eApp) at least 15 days before the start date.

  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English; Antiterrorism Level 1 training required within 30 days of base access.
