The Platform Engineer supports the design, implementation, automation, and operation of Alexandria’s cloud-first enterprise platforms. This role focuses on delivering secure, scalable, and reliable cloud and SaaS solutions while reducing manual processes and reliance on traditional on-premises infrastructure.

Working with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, the Platform Engineer contributes to cloud automation, identity and endpoint modernization, SaaS integration, observability, and operational reliability using modern engineering practices and automation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general direction, the Platform Engineer will design, implement, automate, and support secure, reliable enterprise platforms across cloud, SaaS, identity, and endpoint environments.

Cloud Platform & Automation

  • Implement and support Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 services in alignment with architectural and security standards.

  • Support cloud landing zones, governance, hybrid-cloud integration, and modernization of legacy infrastructure.

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC), scripts, and automated workflows for provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.

  • Build and maintain automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, Azure Automation, and related technologies.

  • Promote standardized, repeatable, and secure platform configurations.

Identity, Security & Endpoint Management

  • Administer Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid identity services, including SSO, enterprise application integrations, and Conditional Access.

  • Support Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint management, including device compliance, BYOD, and MAM.

  • Manage and monitor security capabilities using Microsoft Defender and related security platforms.

  • Support Microsoft Purview data protection, information governance, and retention capabilities.

Platform Operations & Reliability

  • Monitor platform availability, performance, security, capacity, and operational health.

  • Troubleshoot complex platform, identity, application, and connectivity issues.

  • Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.

  • Implement monitoring, observability, alerting, and operational standards.

  • Identify opportunities to improve platform reliability, security, performance, and cost efficiency.

SaaS, Integration & AI Enablement

  • Evaluate, integrate, and support enterprise SaaS platforms.

  • Develop Power Apps, Logic Apps, and other workflow automation solutions.

  • Participate in proof-of-concept testing and adoption of emerging platform technologies.

  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly while ensuring generated code, configurations, and automation are securely reviewed and validated.

  • Apply appropriate AI security and governance controls, including least privilege, data protection, human approval, and monitoring.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Partner with Infrastructure, Security, Service Management, application teams, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable platform services.

  • Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, standards, and runbooks.

  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardization, self-service, and elimination of repetitive manual processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting cloud, infrastructure, or enterprise SaaS platforms.

  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and hybrid environments.

  • Experience with identity management, SSO, Conditional Access, and endpoint management.

  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, automation, and scripting.

  • Strong PowerShell skills; Bash and/or Python experience preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Logic Apps.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Defender, Purview, and enterprise security concepts.

  • Working knowledge of networking, cloud connectivity, and SaaS integrations.

  • Familiarity with ServiceNow ITSM/ITOM and IT service management practices.

  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Security, or Endpoint certifications preferred.

Preferred Competencies:

  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Infrastructure as Code.

  • Understanding of cloud governance, security, and cost optimization.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Automation-first mindset with an interest in cloud-native and AI-enabled technologies.

  • Ability to take ownership of technical solutions from implementation through operational support.

The expected base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 USD annually, plus annual discretionary bonus. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the consideration of many factors, which may include, but are not limited to: the individual’s knowledge, experience, education, qualifications, skills, job location, and the Company’s compensation practices.
