Assistant Social Worker 1

Overview: The Sullivan County Adult Care Center is seeking an Assistant Social Worker I in Liberty. The Assistant Social Worker I involves the performance of paraprofessional social work and/or case management services in an agency providing Community Mental Health Services. The work is performed under direct supervision of a professional social worker with leeway for independently performing some of the duties of the position. Incumbent may be required to engage in some advocacy duties to assist clients in obtaining services available through the Community Social/Human Services Network. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either: (A) Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant a bachelors degree or higher in any of the following: child & family studies, community mental health, counseling, education, nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, recreation, recreational therapy, rehabilitation, social work, sociology, or speech and hearing; or (B) NYS licensure and current registration as a Registered Nurse and a bachelors degree; or (C) A bachelors level education or higher in any field with five years of experience working directly with persons with behavioral health diagnoses; or (D) A Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC). Salary Range: ENTRY: $48,448.00 yearly FULL: $50,998.00 yearly Benefits include Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, Paid Vacation, Paid Sick Leave, Holidays and New York State Retirement Background Investigation: Applicant may be required to undergo a State and National criminal history background investigation, which will include a fingerprint check, to determine suitability for appointment.
