Mitchell County Regional Health Center is in Osage, Iowa located in Mitchell County, which has a population of 10,600 people. MCRHC is a 25-bed critical access hospital, including a Level 4 Trauma Center Emergency Room seeing 3,200 visits annually. The Surgical Services department performs over 1,300 procedures annually, including specialties General Surgery, Orthopedics, ENT, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain management, and Podiatry.

About The Job:

MLS:

Performs all routine and all complex lab tests. Confirms and verifies results using knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments. Correlates and interprets results based on knowledge of physiological conditions. Recognizes problems, identifies causes and determines solution where no preset criteria is available. Monitors and resolves quality assurance problems. Evaluates and implements new methods and instruments.

MLT:

Performs all waived and moderate complex Lab tests. With adequate orientation and supervision, performs highly complex lab tests. Confirms and verifies results using knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments. Correlates and interpret results based on knowledge of physiological conditions. Monitors Q.A. procedures within preset parameters. Recognizes and solves problems using skills and technical knowledge.

The Position: .9 FTE 72 hours per pay period.

Pay: Pay is based on previous experience; base rate starts at $25.84 (MLT) or $28.92 (MLS)

Shift: Sunday-Saturday, Weekends, and Holidays.

Position Qualifications:

MLS:

  • Education:

  • Bachelor degree in science required.

  • Board of Registry MLS (ASCP) certification, MT (ASCP) certification, MLS (AMT) certification, or HEWMT certification required.

  • Membership and active participation in professional organization is desirable.

  • Must demonstrate competence in BLS within six months in position by obtaining certification.

  • Must be certified Mandatory Reporter within six months in position.

  • Experience:

  • Previous experience is preferred.

  • Special Skills & Aptitudes:

  • Must have ability to work flexible hours (call, Holidays, weekends)

  • Must have ability to communicate effectively with other hospital personnel, patients, vendors, and service personnel.

MLT:

  • Education:

  • Associate degree in science required.

  • Board of Registry MLT(ASCP) certificate required or obtained within 6 months of hire.

  • Membership and active participation in professional organization desirable.

  • Must demonstrate competence in BLS within six months in position by obtaining certification.

  • Must be certified Mandatory Reporter within six months in position.

  • Experience:

  • Previous experience is preferred.

  • Special Skills & Aptitudes
