Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The position will begin Fall 2027.

Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:

The Department of Chemistry at Sam Houston State University is growing and seeks to hire three tenure-track faculty members in physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and related or multidisciplinary areas of chemistry. Responsibilities include establishing a vigorous, externally fundable research program; mentoring and supervising undergraduate and graduate research students; and delivering excellent, engaging instruction in courses aligned with the candidate’s expertise. The successful candidates will contribute to the department’s ACS -certified B.S. in Chemistry, B.S. in Forensic Chemistry, and M.S. in Chemistry programs through undergraduate and graduate instruction, thesis advising, and graduate student recruitment.

We seek physical chemists, inorganic chemists, and multidisciplinary chemists whose expertise complements the department’s existing programs and expands opportunities for research and instruction. Postdoctoral research experience is preferred.
