Full job description

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You will be working as an intern on the SPACE Development/Engineering Team within the Nike Innovation Team.

SPACE explores and ignites big ideas that create significant change, harnessing the power of the collective to better serve our athletes* and consumers.

Our work includes exploratory platforms and strategic products. Informally known as Nike’s Innovation Kitchen, it is one of the worlds’ foremost laboratories in which anything is possible. A playground where a lineage of designers, engineers, risk takers, and visionaries draft the next generation of technology infused products, experiences, and methods of make.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment. Your workload will be focused on a summer project brief, along with existing programs that you will partner with the team to explore and evolve collaboratively.

You will effectively communicate and present concepts to various internal and external audiences, sharing your vision, building momentum, gathering feedback, influencing, and gaining alignment.

As a key member of the team, you will help strengthen and shape the collective as a positive force of creativity and curiosity by engaging and uplifting your peers. Along with your multidisciplinary engineering and development teammates, you will collaborate with concept creators, designers, and researchers.

You will report to a Senior Innovation Lead in SPACE, who reports to the Senior Director of Engineering and Development.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking a sport-obsessed, forward-thinking innovator with a deep understanding of athlete needs and the technical skills to turn bold ideas into reality. The ideal candidate is self-starting and thrives in an ambiguous, highly creative, and collaborative environment. You will apply your engineering and product development skills, entrepreneurial approach, knowledge of athletes, and sport experience to create future-forward, epic innovations. These innovations in footwear, apparel, and experiences will push the boundaries of sport and make athletes better.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for athletes*, innovation, and the future of sport

  • Enrolled in a Master's program with an expected graduation date of December 2027 or Spring 2028

  • Pursuing a degree in engineering, product development, or a related field

  • 1–3 years of work experience preferred

  • Ability to work independently, embrace ambiguity, and ensure key dates and deliverables are met

  • Strong teammate and successful collaborator with the ability to inspire others and an understanding that failure is part of the creative innovation process

  • Ability to ideate, generate, develop, and implement prototypes

  • Resume submission (PDF) required
