Full job description

Position Overview

  • This position requires a highly motivated candidate with strong analytical, process management, quantitative, and technical skills to aid in the department’s objectives. • Responsible for the daily and monthly financial / operational analytical support of accounting operations as it relates to the Inventory Control Department, as well as being a liaison to all operational and corporate departments. • Support an accurate and timely monthly close process, forecast, reporting, business objectives, strategic goals and initiatives. • Maintain accuracy of all stock ledger/inventory data, its updates and all related controls. • Perform Merchandise Inventory Valuation, Gross Margin and Cost Analysis. • Assist Loss Prevention and Store Operations in coordination of physical inventories across the organization’s Distribution Centers and Stores. • Coordination with internal and external auditors for periodic reviews and SOX compliance, support all corporate, store and DC inventory flows and initiatives. • Assist in the preparation of client assistance deliverables for quarterly and annual financial statement audits, as well as in other special projects.

A Day In The Life

  • Develop and maintain partner relationships with business units and corporate stakeholders (IT, Shortage Control, Asset Protection, Merchandising, Finance, DC, Logistics, etc.)

  • Seek out process efficiencies and improvements

  • Create Value-added reporting including KPI’s and Monthly Reporting Metrics

  • Demonstrate a good understanding and knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls and apply them to daily functions

  • Collaboratively work with other business partners

  • Responsible for timely and accurate financial close responsibilities, including inventory valuation, margin analysis, general ledger reconciliation and recording of inventory transfers and receipts

  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of inventory transactions for Stores, DC’s and fulfillment operations (includes sales, markdowns, transfers, claims, receipts, shipments, and adjustments)

  • Assist in Physical Inventory Reconciliations and analysis in addition to coordinate timing, execution and reporting of physical inventory as required.

  • Provide shrink reporting for business units as required

  • Ensure compliance with existing and develop/document new policies and procedures governing stock ledger maintenance and control. Partner with Corporate Finance to ensure that policies are in accordance with internal accounting practices and GAAP.

  • Work closely with internal and external auditors as needed to satisfy audit review requirements and Sarbanes Oxley compliance.

You'll Come With

Education and Qualifications:

Education: Four-year accounting/finance degree required, CPA, CMA, or MBA a plus.

Licenses/Certification/Registration: N/A

Experience: 2-4 years related work experience.

Inventory / accounting background, concentration in data analytics and reporting. Retail experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.

  • Passion for data, analytics and pushing business innovation.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the inventory flow and inventory accounting policies.

  • Skilled at financial analysis, recognizing trends and communicating results.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication with emphasis on strong interpersonal skills.

  • Experience working with multiple levels of management and in cross-functional environments.

  • Proven ability to work both independently and cross-functionally to drive projects to completion.

  • Ability to adapt to changing business environment

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Advanced Excel skills. Strong PowerPoint skills.

  • Power BI Skills.
