Land Survey Technician / Crew Chief

Home-Based | Wausau-Stevens Point, WI Area

Ayres' Land Survey Group supports transportation, municipal, utility, development, and geospatial projects throughout Wisconsin. Our survey professionals, engineers, and project managers collaborate across disciplines to deliver accurate, reliable solutions for clients and communities.

We are seeking a Land Survey Technician/Crew Chief based in the Wausau-Stevens Point area. This is a home-based position with travel to project sites throughout central and northeastern Wisconsin and occasional visits to Ayres offices (Green Bay OR Eau Claire) as needed.

What You'll Do

  • Perform field and office surveying and mapping tasks.

  • Operate GPS/GNSS equipment, robotic total stations, and data collection technology.

  • Utilize software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Trimble platforms.

  • Support design surveys, construction layout, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and survey documentation.

  • Collaborate with survey staff, engineers, project managers, and Professional Land Surveyors.

  • Follow OSHA requirements and company safety procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field; or bachelor's degree in Land Surveying.

  • Three or more years of survey-related field experience.

  • Experience with survey equipment and software.

  • Ability to work outdoors, navigate uneven terrain, and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with transportation, municipal, utility, or site development surveys.

  • Construction layout, ALTA surveys, WisDOT right-of-way plats, or LiDAR QA/QC.

  • Experience with Trimble equipment, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.

  • Interest in pursuing Wisconsin Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) licensure.
