Essentia Health is hiring a Workers Compensation Assistant to support our legal team.
Education Qualifications:
Job Description -
Provides efficient and effective responses to inquiries from workers’ compensation insurers, employers, patients, and other stakeholders regarding workers’ compensation matters. Acts as a liaison between physicians, workers’ compensation insurers, employers, and patients by providing clarification related to care plans, return-to-work instructions, documentation needs, and other workers’ compensation-related issues.
Supports the program manager and team members with administrative and operational tasks, including maintaining hard copy and electronic files, mailing documents, processing and organizing medical records, obtaining notarization as directed, and assisting with the completion and filing of required documents with the Department of Labor and Industry. Assists with other departmental needs as assigned. Ensures accurate and timely handling of workers’ compensation documentation and communications.
This role requires the ability to focus in a busy work environment, strong attention to detail, good time management skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines and department needs.
Experience Requirements :

Minimum of 2 years of office experience, including experience working with medical records. Qualifying experience includes but is not limited to: record analysis, EMR processing, document management, and administrative support in a healthcare or related setting.

Experience with workers’ compensation insurance claims and/or a workers’ compensation legal background is preferred.

Have strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask while supporting multiple projects with competing deadlines.

Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, employers, insurers, physicians, and other stakeholders.

Have an interest in the legal field, particularly workers’ compensation, healthcare regulations, or employment-related matters.

Are highly organized and able to manage records, correspondence, filing, notarization, and other documentation accurately and efficiently.

Can work independently while also collaborating effectively with a program manager and team members in a busy healthcare environment.

Are skilled at prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and handling sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
Position Details:

This role is a hybrid position that offers 1-2 days of remote work weekly after training is complete, however, candidate must reside in the Duluth area and be onsite at least 2-3 days per week.

Training for this role will be entirely onsite in Duluth.
