Medical Records Technician (Coder/Audit/Training)

Summary About the Position: This is an open continuous announcement. Multiple vacancies exist and may be filled from this announcement at any of the locations listed. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Responsibilities Perform retrospective audits of diagnoses, E/M levels, procedures, and documentation to identify inaccurately coded services and ensure regulatory compliance. Review medical records, analyze coding accuracy trends, prepare finding reports, and coordinate results with leadership to drive performance improvement. Use encounter audits to identify operational and regulatory issues, ensures complete data capture, and support development of compliance plans. Develop and deliver one-on-one and group training on documentation and coding requirements; updates clinical templates and recommends coding resources. Review and code medical records, validates ICD and CPT accuracy, assists providers with documentation needs, and ensures proper RVU/RWP capture. Prepare monthly progress reports, monitors coding performance, conducts special audits/projects, and communicates findings to leadership. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that includes assisting with coding audits to identify inaccurately coded services; reviewing coding errors to identify trends and develop training materials; and providing guidance to support accurate coding practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
