Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI is seeking an entrepreneurial, high-agency Product Manager to join Total Portfolio Solutions and help define the future of portfolio management technology for asset owners.

Total Portfolio Solutions is focused on enabling investors to build and manage public and private market portfolios through a single, integrated platform. The platform will support critical investment capabilities including performance measurement, risk management, attribution, asset allocation, portfolio construction, exposure analysis, reporting, and related analytics.

The Product Manager will work directly with clients and senior stakeholders to understand their investment processes, identify unmet needs, define product strategy and priorities, and translate those insights into a differentiated product roadmap. This individual will play a central role in executing that roadmap in partnership with Engineering, Research, Data, Implementation, Sales, and other teams across MSCI.

The ideal candidate will bring strong institutional investment expertise, commercial judgment, and a demonstrated ability to operate with ownership and autonomy. They will be energized by ambiguous problems, move quickly from insight to action, and take accountability for outcomes across the product lifecycle—from client discovery and strategy through development, launch, adoption, and ongoing improvement.

Your Key Ressponsibilities

  • Work directly with asset owners and institutional investors to understand their portfolio construction, performance, risk, attribution, asset allocation, reporting, and governance needs across public and private markets.

  • Define and evolve the Total Portfolio Solutions product strategy, vision, roadmap, and priorities in close partnership with clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Conduct market analysis across client needs, investment industry trends, competitive offerings, technology developments, and evolving portfolio practices.

  • Translate client feedback and market insights into clear product concepts, business cases, requirements, prototypes, and prioritized initiatives.

  • Lead the end-to-end product lifecycle, from discovery and ideation through development, launch, adoption, and continuous improvement.

  • Partner with Engineering, Data, Research, Implementation, Sales, and other teams to design and deliver scalable solutions.

  • Make thoughtful tradeoffs across client value, commercial opportunity, technical feasibility, speed to market, and long-term platform strategy.

  • Participate in product governance and prioritization forums, clearly communicating investment cases, dependencies, risks, and expected outcomes.

  • Monitor development progress, remove obstacles, and maintain accountability for delivering high-quality products and client experiences.

  • Develop go-to-market plans for new products and features, including positioning, packaging, pricing, sales enablement, training, and client communications.

  • Support product releases and launches, including user acceptance testing, documentation, demonstrations, FAQs, pitchbooks, fact sheets, and other materials for client-facing teams.

  • Work with Sales and Client Success to understand market reception and identify opportunities to improve positioning, adoption, and product-market fit.

  • Track product performance through adoption, engagement, client satisfaction, revenue, retention, and profitability metrics.

  • Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships, integrations, and other initiatives that strengthen the Total Portfolio Solutions platform.

  • Act as a visible product leader and advocate for Total Portfolio Solutions internally and with clients.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

Desired Experience

  • Significant experience in product management, investment technology, portfolio analytics, or financial data solutions.

  • Deep understanding of institutional asset owners and their investment processes across public and private markets.

  • Strong knowledge of portfolio management capabilities, including performance, risk, attribution, asset allocation, portfolio construction, exposure analysis, and investment reporting.

  • Experience working with pensions, endowments, foundations, insurers, sovereign wealth funds, outsourced chief investment offices, or other institutional investors.

  • Proven track record of working directly with clients to shape product strategy, define requirements, and deliver solutions.

  • Experience managing products through the full lifecycle, from concept and client validation through launch, commercialization, and ongoing enhancement.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives in a matrixed organization.

  • Strong commercial orientation, with experience connecting product decisions to revenue growth, client value, adoption, and profitability.

  • Experience delivering projects or solutions from pitch through implementation.

  • Track record of building trusted relationships with senior investment, technology, and operations stakeholders.

  • Experience operating successfully in entrepreneurial, high-growth, or evolving environments.

Desired Qualifications

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and high agency, with a bias toward action and a willingness to take ownership beyond formal responsibilities.

  • Ability to create clarity and momentum in ambiguous or rapidly changing situations.

  • Strong client orientation and the judgment to distinguish individual requests from scalable product opportunities.

  • Strategic thinker who is equally comfortable defining a long-term vision and working hands-on through execution details.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to evaluate complex investment and technology problems.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, influencing, and storytelling skills.

  • Ability to explain complex investment, portfolio, data, and technology concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to motivate teams that do not report directly to the role.

  • Creative, pragmatic, and persistent approach to problem-solving.

  • Demonstrated ability to build alignment among clients, executives, and cross-functional partners.

  • Commercially minded leader with a strong understanding of pricing, packaging, competitive positioning, and go-to-market strategy.

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in product management, investment technology, portfolio analytics, financial data, consulting, or a related field.

  • Collaborative team player who enjoys making hands-on contributions and building something new.
