Description

Friedman Real Estate is looking for an IT Systems Engineer to join their team in Farmington Hills, MI. This is a senior, hands-on role on our infrastructure team. You will be the Tier 2–3 escalation point for the IT department and the primary administrator for our Microsoft cloud environment — Azure, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, and Purview.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field (required)

  • 5+ years of IT experience, including recent experience supporting an organization of 300+ employees

  • Demonstrated day-to-day, hands-on experience with Azure, Entra ID, Purview, Defender, Intune, and PowerShell

  • Tier 2–3 troubleshooting experience across identity, endpoint, and network issues

  • Strong networking skills, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, firewalls, and switching. Networking is a core part of this role

  • Experience working within a change management process and maintaining documentation

  • Strong communication skills; able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical staff

  • Sound judgment when making changes in a production environment, and knowing when to escalate

  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to properties in the metro area

Nice to have: Python; Microsoft Copilot administration; Claude Enterprise administration; certifications (AZ-104, SC-300, MD-102, SC-401); experience with Meraki, Zendesk, Yardi, or commercial real estate operations.

What You'll Do

  • Administer our Azure and Microsoft 365 tenant, including configuration, licensing, tenant health, and cost management

  • Manage Entra ID: conditional access policies, group and account lifecycle, app registrations, SSO integrations, and privileged access

  • Manage Windows and iOS sevices through Intune: configuration and compliance policies, application deployment, Autopilot, and patching

  • Administer Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Defender for Office 365, including policy configuration, alert triage, and remediation

  • Configure and maintain Microsoft Purview: data loss prevention, sensitivity labels, retention policies, and eDiscovery

  • Manage the corporate and property network environment: firewalls, switching, wireless, and site-to-site VPN

  • Write and maintain PowerShell scripts for user provisioning, reporting, and routine remediation

  • Serve as the Tier 2–3 escalation point for the IT Specialist team and provide technical mentoring

  • Lead infrastructure, migration, and security projects from planning through implementation and documentation

  • Manage system monitoring, backup and recovery testing, and patch compliance reporting

  • Follow change management procedures and maintain technical documentation and runbooks
