As a JROTC Instructor, you will play a critical role in creating meaningful learning experiences that challenge students, build teamwork, encourage personal responsibility, and prepare young people to become successful leaders and engaged members of their communities.

Qualifications and Experience

This position is particularly well suited for an experienced military leader who is ready to bring their knowledge, leadership, discipline, and commitment to service into an educational setting.

Eligible applicants generally include:

  • Retired or separated U.S. Army Officers in grades O-3 through O-6 or W-1 through W-5, possessing a minimum of 8 years of service.

  • Must meet all requirements applicable U.S. Army JROTC eligibility requirements. Currently serving ARNG/USAR personnel may also be eligible under applicable requirements.

  • Candidates must successfully complete the U.S. Army JROTC application and certification process and meet all applicable eligibility, background, security, and certification requirements.

Previous JROTC instructional experience is preferred, but we are especially interested in candidates who bring strong leadership, communication, organizational, and mentoring skills and a genuine desire to work with high school students.

Develop Leaders

JROTC provides students with opportunities to learn by doing. The program combines classroom instruction with leadership development, physical training, hands-on experiences, competitions, ceremonies, community service, and team-building activities.

The successful candidate will serve as a teacher, mentor, coach, and role model, helping students discover their potential while holding them to high standards.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Teach the U.S. Army JROTC curriculum and related coursework

  • Develop students' leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character

  • Mentor and motivate students toward personal and academic success

  • Lead physical training and hands-on learning experiences

  • Plan and supervise competitions, ceremonies, field trips, camps, and community service activities

  • Build student participation and enthusiasm for the JROTC program

  • Create a positive, structured, and student-centered learning environment

  • Develop strong relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners

  • Help students develop confidence, discipline, responsibility, and leadership skills

Make an Impact

Bemidji High School provides students with a wide range of academic, career, athletic, and extracurricular opportunities. Our JROTC program is an important part of that experience, giving students another pathway to develop leadership skills and discover their strengths.

We are looking for someone who understands that student success is about more than academics. The right candidate will be someone who enjoys working with young people, believes in setting high expectations, and takes pride in helping students grow into confident and responsible adults.

Whether leading a classroom lesson, preparing cadets for competition, organizing a community service project, or simply encouraging a student who needs someone in their corner, this position provides countless opportunities to make a difference.
