Full job description

Description

Sand Companies is seeking an experienced insurance and risk management professional to help protect our businesses, properties, and people. We have a clear need for your expertise, with flexibility to build a full-time or part-time role around the right candidate’s strengths, experience, and interests.

The foundation of this position is insurance oversight, legal reviews, claims management, and practical risk guidance. A full-time role may include broader loss prevention and risk management initiatives, depending on your background and business needs.

What You’ll Do

Reporting to the CEO and partnering with business leaders, you will:

  • Manage insurance programs: Oversee property and casualty, commercial auto, workers’ compensation, and fidelity coverage for the company and its managed or affiliated properties.

  • Coordinate claims: Review incident reports, submit claims, coordinate adjuster inspections, and manage follow-up through resolution and settlement.

  • Lead broker and carrier relationships: Coordinate renewals, negotiate coverage, evaluate options, and guide broker and carrier selection.

  • Review contracts and vendor coverage: Maintain insurance requirements and verify appropriate coverage for vendors, company vehicles, and equipment.

  • Provide practical risk guidance: Help leaders identify exposures, reduce losses, and improve practices while maintaining accurate insurance and claims records.

What You Bring

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience, including approximately three to five years in risk management or property and casualty insurance.

  • Experience with insurance programs, claims, broker relationships, and contract insurance requirements.

  • A Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designation or willingness to obtain it; Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation is a plus.

  • Strong judgment, clear communication, organization, and dependable follow-through.

  • The ability to work independently, build relationships across the organization, and use Microsoft Office effectively.

We value professionals who take ownership, make thoughtful recommendations, and demonstrate our core values of Stewardship, Integrity, Trust, and Excellence.

Location and Schedule

This position is based in St. Cloud, Minnesota , with occasional travel but this can be primarily a remote role although preference is for someone close enough to attend meetings as necessary. A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass a background, drug and MVR test is required. Occasional availability outside regular business hours may be needed for urgent claims or time-sensitive matters. Schedule and availability expectations will be discussed during the hiring process.

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time compensation is targeted at $90,000–$105,000 annually , depending on experience and the agreed scope of responsibilities. Part-time compensation will reflect the schedule and responsibilities.

Eligible full-time employees receive our standard benefits package, including health insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan with company match, and paid time off . Additional benefit options and eligibility details will be shared during the hiring process.

Tell Us What You’re Looking For

Submit your résumé and a brief introduction describing your preferred full-time or part-time schedule, compensation expectations, and the areas where you can contribute most. We would like to hear what would make this the right opportunity for you.
