Full job description

At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done. With AIM Virtualization we’re redefining interoperability for the modern data stack. Our platform makes existing applications instantly work on Snowflake by bringing the core tenets of virtualization to the database. The runtime empowers customers to move to Snowflake without changing SQL or APIs. As a result, AIM Virtualization makes time-consuming migrations obsolete. As a leader in this team you get to shape how we tackle some of the most intricate database implementation challenges all while pioneering an industry-first framework which customers consistently describe as “too good to be true”. If you’re looking to empower a high-performance team and accelerate the effective use of AI across the organization, this is the challenge for you. We are looking for an AI-first leader who is not afraid to take on hard and unusual tasks. As an Engineering Manager, you'll shape the development processes for one of Snowflake's most strategic new products.

AS A SENIOR ENGINEERING MANAGER AT SNOWFLAKE, YOU WILL

  • Provide strong technical leadership across the entire product suite of AIM-V, including the runtime, tools and utilities, as well as deployment.

  • Drive an AI-based development process across the entire platform, from requirements analysis to design, from development to validation and release.

  • Collaborate with product managers, solution architects, and field engineering to empower our customers.

  • Define and improve our engineering processes around AI-based software synthesis workflows.

  • Solve real business needs at large scale by applying your software engineering and analytical problem solving skills.

OUR IDEAL SENIOR ENGINEERING MANAGER WILL HAVE

  • 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale systems and enterprise software.

  • 8+ years of experience in managing expert engineering teams.

  • Track record of owning the full software development lifecycle from inception to release.

  • Comprehensive background in SQL and/or other functional programming languages.

  • Solid knowledge of database internals, with emphasis on query parsing, query optimization, and query execution.

  • MS/PhD in Computer Science: databases, high-performance computing, or related fields.

WHY JOIN THE ENGINEERING TEAM AT SNOWFLAKE?

  • Build an industry-leading Cloud Data and AI Platform.

  • Solve challenging technical problems related to security, parallel and distributed systems, programming, resource management, large-scale system maintenance, and more!

  • Work closely with our customers & partners, understand their use cases & needs, think strategically to seek the right problem to solve at the right time, and innovate with rigor.

  • Join a world-class team of both industry veterans and rising stars.

Snowflake is growing fast, and we’re scaling our team to help enable and accelerate our growth. We are looking for people who share our values, challenge ordinary thinking, and push the pace of innovation while building a future for themselves and Snowflake. How do you want to make your impact?
