Job Description Respiratory therapists work under the direction of doctors and treat a range of patients, from premature infants whose lungs are not fully developed to elderly people with lung disease. They give patients oxygen, manage ventilators, and administer drugs to the lungs.

Must Have Skills/Experience: RT on staff will be the backup for intubations – training will be provided onsite, the chosen RT will be the only RT on shift

Type of Patients on Unit: primarily adults, ED patients, Surgical; rehab; imaging; heart & vascular; ortho; emergency Qualifications

Required Certifications: Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License required, BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification - American Heart 'Healthcare Provider (HCP) - AHA approved required*, ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Certification or EKG & Pharmacology Course required National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required and VA License. *New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to the completion of orientation
