Full job description

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Campus Network Engineer with significant automation experience to design, deploy, migrate, and operate enterprise campus networks, with a strong focus on wired switching, Wi-Fi, and NAC. The ideal candidate combines deep multi-vendor campus expertise (Cisco, Arista, Juniper Mist, Aruba, Meraki) with a software-driven approach: building source-of-truth-driven configuration, automated deployments, and pre/post-change validation using Python, Ansible, and vendor APIs. This hybrid onsite, customer-facing role involves leading campus refresh and migration projects, automating repeatable workflows, and resolving complex issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, refresh, and troubleshoot campus access, distribution, and core networks (Cisco Catalyst, Arista, Juniper EX, Aruba CX), including stacking/MLAG, StackWise Virtual, and campus EVPN-VXLAN fabrics.
  • Lead large-scale campus migrations and hardware refreshes across multiple sites, including Cisco- to-Arista, with automated config translation, staging, and cutover.
  • Build and maintain network automation for day-0 through day-2 operations: templated config generation, zero-touch provisioning, bulk changes, compliance checks, and pre/post-change validation (Python, Ansible, Jinja2, Arista AVD/ANTA, Nornir).
  • Establish and integrate a network source of truth (NetBox, Nautobot, or equivalent) and drive configurations from it.
  • Develop Git-based workflows and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub/GitLab) for network changes, including peer review, testing, and rollback.
  • Automate against controller and platform APIs (Arista CloudVision, Cisco Catalyst Center, Meraki Dashboard, Juniper Mist, Aruba Central) using REST, NETCONF/RESTCONF, and gNMI.
  • Deploy, refresh, and troubleshoot Wi-Fi solutions (AP configuration, RF planning, interference mitigation, roaming, WPA2/WPA3) using Cisco, Juniper Mist, Meraki, and Aruba, and automate AP onboarding and site rollouts.
  • Configure and troubleshoot NAC and 802.1X/MAB with Cisco ISE and Aruba ClearPass, including dynamic segmentation and policy automation.
  • Implement monitoring, telemetry, and observability (streaming telemetry, SNMP, syslog) and automate health checks and reporting.
  • Conduct POCs, produce design documents, runbooks, and automation documentation, mentor junior engineers and customer teams, and participate in on-call and maintenance-window cutovers.
  • Act as a Automation and Campus Networking Subject Matter expert and collaborate with the customer for a successful migration. Be a trusted advisor to the customer for networking.

Skills and Requirements

•12+ years as a Network Engineer, 5+ in senior roles focused on campus routing, switching, and Wi- Fi.

  • 3+ years of hands-on network automation experience in production, with examples of automation built and operated (not just scripts run).
  • Strong knowledge of 802.1X/NAC with Cisco ISE and/or Aruba ClearPass.
  • Experience and background in network security fundamentals especially as it relates to 802.1x.
  • Strong Python skills (Netmiko, NAPALM, Nornir, Requests, pyATS or similar) and Ansible playbook/role development with Jinja2 templating.
  • Proficiency with Git and version-controlled change workflows; experience with CI/CD for network changes.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale campus refreshes or migrations (multiple sites, hundreds to thousands of switches and APs).
  • Expertise in campus switching platforms: Cisco Catalyst, Arista, Juniper EX, and/or Aruba CX (ideally 1–2 primary vendors).
  • Expertise in wireless platforms: Cisco, Juniper Mist, Meraki, and/or Aruba.
  • Solid routing fundamentals: OSPF, BGP, VRFs, and first-hop redundancy in campus designs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent years of experience.
  • Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent written skills, including design and automation documentation, ticket tracking, and Meeting follow-up.
  • Available to work onsite at customer data centers 1 week a month
  • Experience with Arista AVD, ANTA, and CloudVision (CVP or CVaaS), including CloudVision Studios.
  • Experience with NetBox or Nautobot as a source of truth, including custom fields, plugins, or API integrations.
  • Familiarity with campus EVPN-VXLAN, Cisco SD-Access, or Aruba dynamic segmentation.
  • Exposure to data center leaf-spine fabrics (BGP EVPN/VXLAN) for campus-to-DC integration.
  • Experience with model-driven programmability (NETCONF/YANG, gNMI) and streaming telemetry stacks.
  • Network industry certifications preferred, e.g. Arista ACE L3/L5, Cisco CCNP/CCIE Enterprise, Cisco DevNet Professional/Expert, Juniper JNCIP-ENT, or Aruba ACMP/ACCP.
