Job Summary:

The Fabrication Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects related to new builds and the refurbishment of used equipment for the Messer food equipment product line. This role ensures projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget while collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing resources, and communicating with stakeholders to drive successful outcomes. Key responsibilities include risk management, problem-solving, and ensuring adherence to Messer procedures, project goals, and deadlines.

Principal Responsibilities:

Establish and manage project budgets and schedules for projects up to $1,000,000.

Ensure accuracy of bills of materials and manuals for application equipment assignments.

Manage and execute application equipment projects in the North American markets for Messer.

Oversee procurement and fabrication of equipment with fabricators and vendors.

Ensure proper safety considerations are always incorporated into design, project execution, fabrication, start-up, and commissioning activities.

Complete assigned projects on schedule and within budget.

Resolve application equipment problems encountered at customer and fabrication sites, including on-site customer consultations.

Qualify, evaluate, and develop capabilities of consultants, vendors, and contractors to enhance the application equipment portfolio.

Validate equipment functionality and workmanship through functional testing and by developing new test protocols as needed.

Oversee all project-related procurement activities to control costs, achieve desired specifications, and ensure on-time delivery of equipment and components.

Participate in design reviews and HAZOPs for application equipment.

Complete close-out checklists for application equipment projects, ensuring all calculations are documented and filed in the project folder, and that as-built versions of manuals are completed and distributed.

Working knowledge of applicable industrial codes related to process, manufacturing, and operator safety.

Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.

Ability to read electrical schematics is preferred.

Willing and able to travel up to approximately 30% (including overnight as required).

Willing and able to work weekends and/or holidays as needed to meet project schedules, commissioning activities, and follow-up customer support.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.

Minimum 3 years of experience in engineering/design for application equipment, industrial gases, and a manufacturing/plant environment-or completion of Messer's Graduate Development Program (GDP) with relevant project experience.

The salary range for this position is $82,000 - $109,000. Messer provides medical, dental, vision, short term disability, life insurance and paid time off as well as other voluntary benefits, such as, long term disability in accordance with the terms and conditions of these Plans. Employees are eligible to enroll in Messer's 401(k) Plan. Employees may be eligible to participate in the company's bonus program.
