Full job description

About Slash Slash is building the future of business banking, one industry at a time. We believe businesses deserve financial infrastructure tailored to how they actually operate. That's why we're creating a new category of business banking. We combine the reliability of traditional banking (high yields, competitive rewards, and comprehensive security) with industry-specific features that make businesses more efficient, more competitive, and more profitable. Started in 2021, Slash is one of the fastest growing fintechs in the world and we power over three billion dollars a year in business purchasing across numerous industries. We're backed by some of the best investors in the world including Menlo Ventures, NEA, Y Combinator, Stanford University, and the founders of Tinder and Plaid. Slash is headquartered in San Francisco, and has a strong in-person culture. We’re growing fast and are looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Compliance Analyst to join our team!

About the Role Slash is looking for an Underwriting Lead to make high-quality credit decisions, build a consistent underwriting operating rhythm, and help turn credit policy into a scalable customer experience. This is a hands-on role for someone who can underwrite complex businesses today and improve the system for tomorrow.

What You’ll Do

  • Underwrite new accounts and material exposure changes using financial statements, bank and transaction data, bureau information, business profile, ownership information, and relevant internal signals.

  • Prepare clear credit memos and recommendations; exercise delegated authority where granted and escalate exceptions or complex cases under the credit policy.

  • Own application queue health, document collection, decision turnaround, rework, and escalation. Establish operating metrics and investigate bottlenecks.

  • Drive consistent decision documentation, reason codes, approval conditions, and exception tracking; conduct regular calibration and quality reviews.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Data, Fraud, Legal/Compliance, Operations, and our program partners to build effective decisioning, evidence, and audit trails.

  • Train and coach future underwriting team members and create durable procedures, examples, and decision standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of commercial credit underwriting experience; experience with SMBs, commercial cards, working-capital products, or fintech lending is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze business financial statements, cash flow, liquidity, leverage, repayment capacity, bank activity, and bureau or alternative data.

  • Sound judgment in ambiguous cases and a track record of writing concise, defensible credit recommendations.

  • Experience operating within credit policy, delegated authority, exception governance, and regulated or bank-partner environments.

  • Operational discipline and strong cross-functional communication; you care about turnaround, auditability, and explaining credit tradeoffs clearly.

How Success Will Be Measured

  • Decision quality and performance by risk band, including exceptions.

  • Turnaround time, queue aging, application quality, rework, and documentation QA.

  • Adherence to policy, authorities, conditions, and escalation SLAs.

  • Reduction in decision variance and manual burden without weakening controls.

Why Join Slash:

  • Competitive base salary

  • Equity in a high-growth company

  • Best-in-class health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Unlimited PTO

  • Daily in-office meals

  • Transportation support

  • High-autonomy, low-bureaucracy environment
