About Epirus Epirus is a high-growth technology company developing software-defined high-power microwave (HPM) systems with devastating counter-electronics effects on modern drone threats. The Epirus Leonidas HPM family of products, empowered by innovations in AI and microelectronics, is human safe and cost-effective. Distinguishing itself from lasers, Leonidas excels against drone swarms while also bending the cost curve back in DoD's favor - taking drone defeat costs from millions of dollars per drone to pennies on the dollar. Job Summary This is an exciting role in a growing company. The ideal candidate for the position is someone who has experience designing, verifying, and integrating state-of-the-art FPGA systems and embedded processing solutions for RF applications. In this role, you will work closely with a talented, multi-disciplinary engineering team to design and manufacture novel RF systems for a variety of platforms in a rapid development environment. Responsibilities

  • Design and verification of RTL modules for FPGA applications
  • Initial test and bring-up of custom FPGA circuit cards, including on-board peripherals such as memory, Ethernet, and sensors
  • Automation of test environment (up to and including hardware-in-the-loop testing), lab equipment, and measurement devices
  • Capturing design tradeoffs, state machine flow, system address maps, and block diagrams

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer or Electrical engineering
  • 2+ years of technical experience
  • Familiarity implementing FPGA and microprocessor designs on embedded hardware
  • Experience working with latest generation state of the art Xilinx/Intel Parts and associated tool sets (Vivado, Quartus)
  • Understanding of common digital communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART)
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Collaborative; capable of working across all levels of the organization
  • Organized; comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
  • US Citizen and/or Permanent Resident (future US Security Clearance will be required)

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • MS degree in Computer or Electrical engineering
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Experience implementing complex DSP algorithms on FPGAs
  • Proficiency with design automation, scripting languages (TCL, Python, Perl, Matlab)
  • Knowledge of advanced firmware verification testbench development (UVM, System Verilog)
  • Skilled with advanced high-speed Verilog/VHDL designs including high-speed memory interfaces (DDR4, HBM) and high-speed SerDes IO and protocols (100GE, JESD, Interlaken)
  • Understanding of digital and mixed signal PCB design including signal integrity analysis, FPGA sizing estimation, and IO selection
  • Aerospace/Defense experience and/or military experience
  • Current/Active Secret Security Clearance

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of California only, the range of starting pay for this role is: $102,000—$118,000 USD
