Job Title: Senior Systems Administrator

Location: New York, NY (On-site)

Senior Systems Administrator – New York, NY (On-site)

Our client is a small family owned financial services organization operating in a fast-paced, high-touch enterprise environment. They are looking for a dedicated technology professional to drive continuous improvement, stability, and reliability across their corporate office environments.

In this role as a Senior Systems Administrator, you will serve as a hands-on technical leader and the day-to-day owner of IT operations. Working closely with engineering management, you will provide deep technical expertise across a robust Windows and Microsoft cloud infrastructure. Crucially, this role requires a true "no task is too small" mentality; you will drive high-level infrastructure engineering initiatives while remaining happy and willing to roll up your sleeves to resolve foundational desktop and end-user support tickets as needed.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience with Windows Server administration (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Hyper-V).

  • Deep proficiency in Microsoft Cloud environments, specifically Azure (Entra ID, Virtual Machines, Storage, Networking) and M365.

  • Hands-on experience managing multi-domain forests, multi-site setups, and hybrid AD environments.

  • Proficiency in Linux administration (specifically Debian and Fedora).

  • Strong automation and scripting skills, particularly with PowerShell.

  • Working knowledge of endpoint management solutions, enterprise WiFi (e.g., Aruba), and network/security fundamentals.

  • Proven willingness to handle everyday tier-1 and tier-2 desktop support alongside senior engineering tasks.

  • Previous experience operating in financial services or a similarly demanding enterprise setting.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day administration of both on-premise and cloud infrastructure across Windows and Linux environments.

  • Troubleshoot complex systems issues and perform root-cause analysis to prevent recurring problems.

  • Jump in to assist with foundational IT support tasks, eagerly handling everyday end-user requests and desktop troubleshooting when required.

  • Provide high-touch, executive-level technical support while managing ticket handling and escalation procedures.

  • Create, standardize, and maintain clear IT documentation, SOPs, and runbooks.

  • Train, mentor, and provide ongoing feedback to build the technical capabilities of junior team members.

  • Manage backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning initiatives while participating in an on-call rotation.

This on-site position offers a highly competitive base salary ranging from $175,000 to $225,000, commensurate with experience. You will also receive an excellent benefits package that includes an annual discretionary bonus, fully paid health insurance, and generous PTO. If you are a process-driven problem solver who thrives under pressure and takes extreme ownership of your work—from the server room to the user's desk—apply today to step into this critical role.
