Full job description
Company Description Etsy is the global marketplace for unique and creative goods. We build, power, and evolve the tools and technologies that connect millions of entrepreneurs with millions of buyers around the world. As an Etsy employee, you will tackle unique, meaningful, and large-scale problems alongside passionate coworkers, all the while making a rewarding impact and Keeping Commerce Human.
We believe exceptional companies are built by exceptional teams, and we're intentional about it. That means hiring great people, setting them up for success from day one, and giving them real reasons to grow their careers here. We invest in development that goes beyond promotions, and we foster the trust and relationships that help people do their best work together.
What’s the Role? Agents are quickly becoming part of how Etsy works, builds software and serves buyers and sellers. Agentic Platform creates the leverage for our internal builders. Our mission is to make it safe and easy for teams to build, operate, and improve agents across Etsy, from internal engineering workflows to buyer- and seller-facing experiences.
We’re looking for a Senior Staff Product Manager, Agentic Platform to set product strategy for the whole platform. This is a senior individual-contributor role in Etsy’s Foundation organization. You’ll lead product across the platform and partner with Security, Developer Platform, Runtime Platform, Architecture, FinOps, and Employee Technology to build paved paths for agents at Etsy.
This is a full time role reporting to the Senior Director of Product, Foundation.
What’s this team like at Etsy? Foundation Group builds the platforms Etsy’s engineers use every day: Runtime, Developer Platform, UX Platform, Data Platform, Agentic Platform, Employee Technology, and FinOps. Agentic Platform is a new team that’s growing in phases across three squads. You’ll help decide what we build first and how we grow. Our primary customers are internal engineers and the product teams building agent experiences for buyers and sellers. We measure success by their outcomes. We follow an empowered product team model. You own problems and outcomes, not feature lists.
What does the day-to-day look like?
-
Craft and own a multi-year product vision and strategy for how Etsy builds, runs, and improves agents.
-
Turn fast paced changes in models, agent frameworks, MCP, context management, and evaluation into concrete bets with clear success measures.
-
Lead build-vs-buy and vendor decisions for core infrastructure like the gateway and context layer.
-
Define how we measure agent quality at Etsy: benchmarks, task success, acceptance rates, and whether agent-authored changes fail as rarely as human-authored ones.
-
Run discovery and experiments that confirm or rule out investments before we scale them.
-
Align engineering leaders, architects, security partners, and product teams on shared outcomes and clear ownership.
-
Set the standard for platform product thinking across Foundation and mentor other PMs.
-
Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.
Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:
-
Significant product management experience leading ambiguous platform or infrastructure problems with measurable impact for developers.
-
Hands-on fluency with AI agents and LLM tools, deep enough to engage engineers on model gateways, MCP, context and retrieval, sandboxing, and evaluation.
-
Experience shipping developer platforms or security-sensitive systems where reliability, governance, and adoption all matter.
-
Strong judgment in evaluation and experimental design. You can tell a real quality gain from a good demo.
-
Systems-level thinking. You spot shared capabilities worth building once, without building platforms disconnected from real customer needs.
-
A track record of influencing senior technical and product leaders without formal authority, across partner teams with overlapping scope.
