Description
Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Traveling Abrasive Blasters for projects located in the Newport News, VA area . This is a first shift opportunity, and the pay rate is $27.31/hour based on experience plus $140/day per diem for Travelers 60+ miles from the job site. If you are a Traveling Abrasive Blaster and want to work alongside other proven craftsmen who emphasize safety, productivity, and superior craftsmanship, this is your chance to advance your career!
Job Scope:
-
Operate abrasive blasting equipment such as pressure pots, hoses, nozzles, and compressors to remove rust, corrosion, old coatings, etc

Work inside ship tanks, compartments, hulls, dry docks and confined spaces

Prepare surfaces to the required cleanliness and surface profile specified by the job or coating system
Requirements
-
Minimum 3 years in using high pressure blast equipment
-
Experience must include working in a physically demanding environment, confined spaces, working at heights, and in the use of a blaster air-fed helmet and/or soft hood air-fed respirator and a negative-pressure half-face respirator

Blasters must be of height and weight that will allow entrance and movement through man way and tank openings

Must be a U.S. citizen

Must successfully pass a criminal background check

Must successfully pass a hair follicle drug test

Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position in a shipbuilding environment
