Overview

System One is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated QA/QC Project Engineer to support construction of a Mission Critical infrastructure project in Quanah, Texas.

This is a field-focused construction project engineering/QA/QC coordination role responsible for administering the project’s QA/QC program, including inspection documentation, testing records, deficiency tracking, and electronic quality management using Range I/O.

The successful candidate must be comfortable working independently in an active construction environment, coordinating with field supervision, subcontractors, third-party testing agencies, and project stakeholders to ensure that work is properly inspected, documented, and closed out.

This is not a design engineering role.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance / Quality Control

  • Implement and administer project-specific QA/QC procedures, inspection checklists, and documentation requirements.

  • Coordinate and document inspections for earthwork, grading, excavation, backfill, compaction, drainage, underground utilities, concrete, foundations, and other applicable civil/site activities.

  • Verify work against approved construction drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, and applicable project requirements.

  • Coordinate third-party material testing/inspection services (soil compaction, concrete, and other required field tests).

  • Review testing and inspection reports, identify missing documentation, and maintain complete quality records.

  • Track deficiencies, NCRs (nonconformance reports), corrective actions, and reinspection requirements through closure.

  • Coordinate with the Superintendent to identify inspection hold points and ensure required inspections occur before work is covered or subsequent construction proceeds.

Range I/O Quality Documentation

  • Manage the daily QA/QC documentation workflow within Range I/O.

  • Enter, organize, track, and maintain inspection records, quality checklists, photos, testing reports, and supporting documents per project procedures.

  • Monitor outstanding quality items and follow up with responsible parties to obtain timely resolution.

  • Maintain traceability between installed work, inspection records, test results, and approved documentation.

  • Prepare reports identifying completed inspections, outstanding deficiencies, missing records, and upcoming quality requirements.

  • Ensure electronic documentation is accurate, current, and organized for client review, audits, and project closeout.

Field Coordination & Reporting

  • Work directly with field supervision to understand daily construction activities and upcoming inspection requirements.

  • Attend project coordination and quality meetings as required.

  • Conduct routine field observations and verify that required quality documentation is being completed.

  • Communicate quality deficiencies promptly and professionally to responsible personnel.

  • Provide weekly QA/QC status reports to project leadership (open deficiencies, inspection status, testing results, documentation completeness).

  • Escalate unresolved quality issues or potential nonconforming work to the Project Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in construction project engineering, field engineering, QA/QC coordination, or a closely related role.

  • Experience working around heavy civil, industrial, infrastructure, electrical utility, or similar construction projects.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain accurate, complete project records.

  • Experience using electronic construction management/documentation systems (Range I/O preferred).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PDF review tools.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work independently and coordinate directly with field personnel.

  • Ability to work full-time onsite at the Quanah, TX project site.

Success Measures

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete project QA/QC documentation.

  • Ensure inspections and required testing are coordinated with construction activities.

  • Keep Range I/O records current and organized.

  • Identify and track quality deficiencies through documented closure.

  • Reduce administrative and documentation demands on the Project Manager and Superintendent.

  • Maintain a documented, auditable quality record supporting project acceptance and closeout.
