What does a successful Principal Engineer, DNA Platforms do at Fiserv?

A successful Principal Engineer, DNA Platforms at Fiserv defines the architecture, engineering strategy, and technical direction for critical platforms and services. This role partners across engineering, product, architecture, and business teams to solve complex technical challenges and advance modernization, scalability, reliability, security, and engineering excellence. This leader also serves as a trusted technical advisor who influences strategy across multiple teams while bringing hands-on technical depth and strong technical judgment.

What you will do?

  • Define the technical vision, long-term architecture, and engineering roadmap for DNA Platforms.

  • Lead solution design, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making for complex, multi-team initiatives across engineering, product, architecture, and business stakeholders.

  • Design scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable software platforms using distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native architecture patterns.

  • Guide modernization efforts, platform engineering practices, automation, tooling, and CI/CD adoption, while establishing engineering standards, design principles, technical governance, and measurable practices for software quality, observability, performance, reliability, and security.

  • Manage, coach, and develop engineers and engineering managers, and lead technical forums, design reviews, and knowledge-sharing practices across geographically distributed teams.

What you must have?

  • 12+ years of experience in software engineering, including architecture and delivery of large-scale enterprise platforms.

  • 10+ years of experience designing distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native architectures, and modern software delivery practices.

  • 8+ years of experience managing and developing teams in engineering, architecture, or platform technology functions, plus 8+ years of experience applying security, reliability, performance, scalability, observability, and maintainability principles to production systems.

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, related experience, and/or military experience.

What would be nice to have?

  • Experience in 1 or more of these domains: financial technology, banking, payments, risk, or fraud platforms.

  • Experience leading 2 or more initiatives such as platform modernization, cloud adoption, or developer productivity programs.

  • Experience working across geographically distributed engineering organizations with occasional travel up to 10%

Salary Range

$186,000.00 - $285,600.00

These pay ranges apply to employees in New Jersey and New York. Pay ranges for employees in other states may differ.

For incentive eligible associates, the successful candidate is eligible for an annual incentive opportunity which may be delivered as a mix of cash bonus and equity awards in the Company’s sole discretion.
