Sr. Biostatistician (Infectious Disease) - #Staff

The Division of Infectious Disease is seeking a Sr. Biostatistician who will be responsible for data management and analysis of multicenter clinical trials. The Sr. Biostatistician will supervise research data analysts and work with principal investigators to analyze and manage data from studies.

The Biostatistician will support the management, integration, documentation, and analysis of epidemiologic, clinical, laboratory, and genomic data generated through the Johns Hopkins University Center for Community and Global Health in Infectious Diseases (CCGHE-ID)–Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP) research portfolio. The position will support the Rakai Community Cohort Study (RCCS), SENTINEL, IN-STEP, and other ongoing and ancillary studies.

The individual will work closely with investigators, biostatisticians, epidemiologists, bioinformaticians, students, trainees, and CCGHE-ID/RHSP collaborators to maintain well-organized and analysis-ready research datasets; develop reproducible data processing and analytic pipelines; integrate epidemiologic and genomic data; support statistical and genomic analyses; and establish consistent standards for data and code management across the research program.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

• Work with a multidisciplinary group on clinical trials and other longitudinal studies.

• Collaborate with investigators on research projects with primary responsibility for analysis and presentation of project data.

• Provide integration and analysis of biodata from multiple sources.

• Provide expertise in statistical design, data management, and data analysis.

• Contribute to the development and application of statistical methods to advance scientific goals of various projects.

• Serve as lead Biostatistician with investigators to develop objectives, design sampling, randomization, and statistical analysis plans to achieve study objectives.

• Design and perform appropriate methodological procedures for statistical analysis, overall descriptive statistics, exploratory data analyses, including graphs, schematic summaries, and necessary transformations, and confirmatory data analyses, including statistical tests and/or modeling.

• Design, implement, and manage computerized systems for analysis of complex research projects to prepare scientific presentations related to study results.

• Perform sample size and power calculations, generate randomization schema, and prepare statistical sections for research protocols and manuscripts.

• Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with investigators and the team that requires statistical input.

• Design tables and statistical procedures for specific research studies.

• Write statistical design, methods, and analysis for manuscripts and research proposals.

• Analyze data and prepare tables for interim and final reports.

• Develop and apply new statistical methodologies.

• Ensure data integrity and compliance with security policies governed by HIPAA and the Johns Hopkins IRB.

• Oversight of one or more professional team members and project milestones.

• Prepare progress reports and present to leadership.

• Other duties as assigned.

In addition to the duties described above

• Develop and maintain organized systems for management, documentation, versioning, and tracking of epidemiologic, clinical, laboratory, and genomic datasets across the CCGHE-ID/RHSP research portfolio.

• Maintain and document longitudinal RCCS and study-specific datasets, including consistent participant, household, community, visit, specimen, and laboratory identifiers.

• Provide guidance on Git/GitHub, reproducible research practices, data management, and organization of analytic projects.

• Support long-term archiving and reproducibility of data and analyses associated with publications

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or a related quantitative field.

• Three years of related experience.

• Additional education may substitute for required experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate-level training or equivalent applied experience in epidemiologic and biostatistical methods.

• Experience developing analysis-ready datasets and conducting epidemiologic or statistical analyses for scientific research.

• Experience developing reproducible data-processing and analytic workflows, including reusable code and quality-control procedures.

• Experience with Git/GitHub or other version-control systems and demonstrated understanding of reproducible research practices.

Starting Salary Range: $66,215 - $116,130 Annually ($89,000
