At MetLife Investment Management (MIM), the Private Fixed Income team offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in differentiated markets and help drive long-term value for our clients. You will be part of a team investing across private corporate and infrastructure debt, private asset-based finance (ABF) and residential credit, taking a disciplined approach to sourcing and structuring unique high-quality private asset investments for clients. The Opportunity

The Associate will be responsible for analyzing residential whole loan opportunities from a wide of seller types including mortgage originators, hedge funds, private equity firms and broker dealers. These investments are driven by both internal and external third-party demand. The associate will evaluate residential whole loan opportunities taking into account both prepayment and credit risk as well as leveraging performance from the portfolio to validate model assumptions. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team that is established but also growing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and triage residential credit investment opportunities.
  • Support underwriting through analysis of key performance drivers and risk factors.
  • Run, validate, and calibrate cash flow and credit performance models to determine investment pricing and expectations.
  • Design and optimize capital structures and allocate opportunities across investment portfolios.
  • Monitor portfolio performance against original investment assumptions and market expectations.
  • Develop market expertise, build relationships with sellers and clients, and proactively drive initiatives forward.

Required Qualifications

  • Cash flow modeling expertise and strong knowledge of fixed income, residential mortgage credit, and related financial instruments.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, modeling, and technical tools such as Python and advanced spreadsheets.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and manage complex deal information efficiently.
  • Proven success in fast-paced, results-driven environments with multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with a commitment to professional growth and continuous learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of work experience in mortgage or ABS investments that emphasize quantitative methods and structuring
  • Undergraduate degree or higher
  • Familiarity with pricing models
  • Prior experience with a mortgage company or platform that has invested in residential mortgages
  • Experience with AI enabled tools

Location Expectation: This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of 3 days per week in office.

The expected salary range for this position is $120,000 - $140,000. This role may also be eligible for annual short-term incentive compensation and stock-based long-term incentives. All incentives and benefits are subject to the applicable plan terms.
