Full job description

School Psychologist Purpose of the Position: Assists the school system in the following areas: psycho-educational evaluations, responding to referrals for psychological assessment, communication of assessment results and recommendations, and consults with student support teams (administrators, parents, teachers), and suggests interventions to address identified needs.

Reports to: Director of Exceptional Children's Services Strategic Goal Area I- Student Achievement

  • Works with assigned schools to facilitate referral process
  • Conducts individual comprehensive psychological evaluations
  • Suggests interventions appropriate to the identified needs
  • Participates in eligibility team meetings for students with disabilities

Strategic Goal Area II- Stakeholder Engagement and Loyalty

  • Works cooperatively with school administration, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents
  • Verbally communicates assessment results and recommendations
  • Interacts in a professional manner with students, parents, and colleagues

Strategic Goal Area III- Efficient and Effective Operational Process

  • Prepares written reports that follow state guidelines
  • Maintains accurate, complete and appropriate records as required by system policy
  • Adheres to the Code of Ethics
  • Maintains required confidentiality of students and students' records
  • Complies with school, system, and state administrative regulations and board of education policies

Strategic Goal Area IV- Continuous System and School Improvement

  • Provides consultation and collaboration to school staff, parents, and others
  • Participates in professional learning activities
  • Conducts presentations/trainings for school personnel on pertinent topics

Other Expectations:

  • Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by the Director of Exceptional Children's Services

Job Standards: (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job functions):

  • Must hold or be eligible for a Georgia Level 6 certification or higher in related field:• School Psychology (P-12)
