About the job

AI has changed how software gets written at Google. Coding is much faster, so the rest of the product development lifecycle (PDLC) is now the bottleneck. When building is cheap, the most expensive mistake is building the wrong thing, yet deciding what to build still runs at human speed on tools built for a pre-agentic world. Work AI, part of Dev AI, exists to change that.

You will direct product for PDLC Tooling, the agentic tools Google's designers, Product Managers (PMs), and User Experience (UX) researchers use to decide what to build and how it should work. Unlike engineers, they lack a single source of truth and a mature toolchain. Evidence is scattered, static mocks hide real behavior, alternatives are costly to explore, and design intent is lost. Our goal is to make it cheap, so what ships are the best of many options, not the first one that worked.

This role builds on early momentum: our internal tools let teams design and prototype directly on production code, and collaborative canvases provide high-fidelity prototyping and feedback. Your mandate is to scale this work across Google, unite partner efforts across Core, Search, and DeepMind into one coherent experience, and extend it to every UX, PM, and research workflow.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Responsibilities

  • Set the goal, strategy, and roadmap for PDLC Tooling. Build and lead a team of PMs while personally owning the zero-to-one initiatives.

  • Scale production-grounded prototyping so teams explore high-fidelity variants on real design systems and data, and carry the winning design into production code.

  • Bringagents into PM and UX research workflows, from evidence-backed briefs and living plans to synthetic users, AI-moderated research, and scaled experiments.

  • Opena guardrailed path for non-engineers to ship well-scoped changes to production, and partner with DeepMind on design evaluations so internal usage improves Gemini.

  • Engage lighthouse teams to iterate quickly, own north-star metrics such as time from intent to validated prototype, and lead the narrative for how Google builds in the agentic era.
