Description We are looking for a Regional Accountant to support the financial operations of a mission-driven nonprofit organization serving the Henderson, Nevada community. This role oversees accounting activities tied to grants, contracts, budgets, and regional reporting while helping maintain strong financial controls and accurate records. The ideal candidate brings solid accounting knowledge, a careful approach to compliance, and the ability to collaborate effectively with program and operational leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee regional accounting activities across operating entities, including budgeting support, financial tracking, and contract- and grant-related reporting.

  • Administer grant and contract finances by monitoring spending, maintaining supporting records, and ensuring compliance with funding terms, regulatory standards, and documentation requirements.

  • Manage receivables by preparing agency billings, monitoring outstanding balances, and following up on collections to keep payments current.

  • Examine general ledger activity for accuracy and proper allocation, confirming that transactions are charged to the correct cost centers and funding sources.

  • Prepare and post journal entries related to accruals, corrections, cash activity, payroll allocations, loan transactions, petty cash, and intercompany movements as part of the monthly close process.

  • Maintain organized grant files that include agreements, correspondence, reimbursement support, expenditure records, and payment history.

  • Partner with program and grant leaders to review budget performance, discuss spending trends, and help ensure funds are used appropriately.

  • Review purchasing and payable transactions to confirm approvals, legitimacy, and correct coding, and assist with invoice entry and payment processing when needed.

  • Contribute to improvements in accounting procedures, reporting practices, and financial systems that strengthen fund, contract, and cost center visibility. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of specialized training and relevant experience.

  • At least 3 years of accounting experience, with preference for work in nonprofit, healthcare, housing, social services, or grant-funded environments.

  • Strong understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, and the financial administration of government grants and contracts.

  • Experience with month-end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement support.

  • High level of accuracy, strong attention to detail, and the ability to review transactions for proper coding and compliance.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.

  • Proficiency with accounting software and standard business applications; CPA or advanced accounting credentials are a plus.
