Full job description

Our company

At Teradata, we believe that people thrive when empowered with better information. Teradata Autonomous Knowledge Platform activates enterprise intelligence by unifying data, knowledge and business context to achieve tangible outcomes. With Teradata, organizations can provide agents with full context for impact when it matters. Our solution lets businesses connect and scale on premises, in the cloud, or through a hybrid approach. Teradata delivers real business value with AI.

What You'll Do

  • Set the direction for agentic development across design, implementation, testing, code review, debugging, and operations, and lead by example with hands-on agentic work in your own deliverables.

  • Build and run agent-driven engineering workflows that take work from specification to production-ready code, and design the context, tooling, and pipelines that make agents effective in a large, complex codebase.

  • Define guardrails, evaluation methods, quality gates, and security controls so agent-generated work meets enterprise-grade standards, and measure agents' impact on quality, velocity, and reliability.

  • Contribute to agent-driven platform capabilities, such as autonomous operations, tuning, and diagnostics, where product direction calls for them.

  • Architect and build elastic compute capabilities that scale with demand across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud while keeping performance predictable.

  • Define how elastic and always-on compute work together under common governance, security, and workload management, designing for workload isolation, resource efficiency, and continuous availability during scale events and failures.

  • Lead technical design reviews and architectural decisions that balance near-term delivery with long-term platform direction, and coach engineers across the organization.

  • Partner with engineering, product, and operations to take features from design to production, and improve observability, automation, and resilience across the platform.

Who You'll Work With

You will join Teradata's cloud engineering organization, the team that builds the Teradata Cloud Platform, including Active Compute and Elastic Compute, across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. You will work most closely with engineering, product, and operations partners to take features from design to production, and you will coach engineers as you establish agentic development practices across the organization.

What Makes You a Qualified Candidate

Required

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

  • 10+ years of software development experience, including significant work on large-scale distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.

  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience with agentic development: building production software with AI coding agents and multi-step agentic workflows, beyond occasional use of an assistant.

  • Experience designing agentic engineering practices, such as agent context and instructions, tool integration, evaluation, and review and safety controls.

  • Hands-on experience with elastic or autoscaling compute architectures on a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

  • Strong understanding of data platform concepts: databases or data warehouses, query processing, workload management, and storage and compute separation.

  • Experience designing for high availability, performance predictability, security, and multi-tenancy.

  • Strong programming skills to guide agentic development.

Preferred

  • Experience building agent-based or LLM-powered features in production systems.

  • Experience creating agent evaluation harnesses, benchmarks, or quality metrics.

  • Experience with MPP or analytic database internals.

  • Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and infrastructure-as-code.

  • Familiarity with cost-aware scaling, capacity planning, and FinOps practices.

  • Experience in regulated or mission-critical enterprise environments.

What You'll Bring

  • Sound judgment on where agents add value and where human review remains essential in mission-critical systems.

  • An evidence-driven approach to engineering practice: you measure what agents change and adjust how the team works based on the results.

  • A hands-on leadership style: you set the standard by doing the work with agents yourself, not by prescribing from a distance.

  • The ability to influence technical direction across teams and bring other engineers along with new ways of working.

  • Architectural judgment that balances near-term delivery with long-term platform direction for workloads that cannot go down.
