Full job description

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Polysomnographic Technician at CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson, you will help patients undergoing sleep evaluations by providing high-quality clinical care and monitoring so they can achieve accurate diagnoses and improved sleep health outcomes.

Every day you will perform and monitor overnight polysomnograms (sleep studies). You will be expected to operate sophisticated medical equipment to record brain waves, respiratory events, and cardiac rhythms while maintaining a safe, sterile environment.

To be successful in this role, you must possess thorough knowledge of sleep physiology, hold required professional certifications, and demonstrate a commitment to rigorous quality assurance standards.

  • Patient Preparation: Ensure successful data collection by accurately applying recording devices and sensors to patients in accordance with department standards and protocols.

  • Data Monitoring: Observe and record polysomnogram/EEG procedures, identifying normal and abnormal neurological, respiratory, and cardiac physiology while reporting necessary clinical data to physicians.

  • Clinical Intervention: Safely administer oxygen, nasal CPAP, and ventilator assist devices as ordered, responding immediately to clinical events to ensure patient safety and comfort.

  • Documentation & Compliance: Initiate and manage testing according to American Academy of Sleep Medicine guidelines and complete all patient documentation with precision and accuracy.

  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain the laboratory’s inventory of supplies and ensure all diagnostic equipment is clean, sanitized, and in optimal operating condition.

Required

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), within 6-months of start.

  • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR)

Pay Range

$24.88 - $35.14 /hour
