Salary: $70.00 Hourly

POSITION: Physical Therapist

LOCATIONS: East Orange, NJ (School Districts)

SALARY: Starting at $70 per hour, based on clinical experience and/or experience in a school-based setting. Up to 30 hours per week.

Founded in 1953 to meet the needs of children with cerebral palsy and their families, Pillar Care has steadily grown and now delivers life-affirming services to infants, children, adults and their families throughout northern New Jersey through 27 program locations. Pillar Care provides specialized programs to meet a wide range of educational, therapeutic, and social needs of people with various disabilities. The agency serves over 1,650 families each year and employs 700 full- and part-time employees.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are seeking a collaborative, passionate Physical Therapist who is looking to make a difference? Join our supportive team to provide therapy services to students within the public-school setting. As a staff member, you will be involved in enhancing the lives of people with disabilities and other special needs by supporting personal growth, independence, and participation in the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts ongoing informal assessments; interprets and analyzes data; provides written reports; documents progress clearly and concisely.

  • Develop educationally relevant IEP goals and objectives in collaboration with teachers.

  • Develop, implement, monitor, and revises therapy programs during individual and group treatment sessions.

  • Participates in department meetings, all staff meetings, team meetings, and various school clinics

  • Designs, fabricates, adjusts, or makes minor repairs to therapeutic equipment for individual students, suggestions, and monitors the provision of appropriate assistive technology.

  • Oversee activities of Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides, or therapy students and cosigns all documentation according to discipline-specific practice standards and licensing regulations.

  • Maintains open communication with family/guardian and child study team case manager as required on an individual basis.

  • Fosters and maintains collaborative relationships with teachers, classroom support staff, and resource staff while monitoring therapeutic programs.

  • Attends educational courses to maintain and update knowledge and skills

  • Travel and/or home visits may be required to meet individual needs.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and independence in the use of varied therapy treatment approaches, knowledge of child development

  • Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, establish and maintain proper working relationships with students, parents, co-workers and supervisors

  • Perform physical activity

  • Maintain a safe working environment, adhere to ethical standards of the profession, travel to various locations, adhere to personnel policies, procedures and standard health precautions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical therapy, New Jersey license as a physical therapist,

  • Certification by State of New Jersey as a school physical therapist and fingerprint examination and approval.
