Full job description
SUMMARY:
Per-diem, generally overnight shift position available to NYS certified security guards or those able to be licensed (or meet law enforcement exemption) within 30 days of employment, and possess a valid driver’s license. Skidmore is seeking candidates generally for the Midnight to 8:00 AM Shift, including some weekends and holidays. When selecting applicants, priority will be given to those who can meet that specific schedule.
Position is responsible for ensuring the safety of the campus community in a customer service centric manner.
Campus Safety Officers conduct safety training, patrol, community outreach, report writing, emergency response, render first-aid, investigate incidents, document violations of law or policy and interacting with a diverse population. Involves vehicle and foot patrol, periodic dispatching and desk duties.
Responsibilities include campus security patrol, report writing and enforcing college’s rules and regulations, conducting investigations and interacting with a diverse population. There will be a background check. Prior applicants may reapply.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma. Familiarity with computer applications is essential. At least one year of related experience is preferred but not required. A valid driver's license and a valid New York State Security Guard license at time of hire or within 30 days are required. Requirement may be waived for active or retired law enforcement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate should possess excellent communication and writing skills.
PAY RANGE:
$20.50 - $21.50 per hour
