Full job description

SUMMARY:

This position works in partnership with outside professional firms in managing both day to day and period oversight of all governmental taxes, insurance matters and daily banking activities. This role requires the highest level of of integrity and confidentiality ensuring the Company is in compliance with its legal obligations with regard to specified tax & insurance documents. Position manages one full-time and one part-time associate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Required:

  • Bachelor Degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Business Administration, Insurance and/or related field.

  • Minimum of 7 years' experience with Multi-State and Federal taxes, multi-state business insurance, and contract administration.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Access & Word

  • Excellent communication, organization and time management skills

  • Ability to prioritize, work within assigned deadlines, and work independently or collaboratively to accomplish organizational objectives.

  • Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and ethical standards in all Company dealings on a daily basis and ability to foster strong, open lines of communication across all levels of the organization.

  • Expertise and understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), Internal Revenue Code, and state tax compliance.

Preferred:

  • Supervisory experience

  • CPA certification and tax experience

  • Familiarity with tax planning and experience in tax compliance and regulatory reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Oversee daily banking activities and tax compliance for multiple taxing states and jurisdictions.

  • Responsible for maintaining current knowledge base for laws pertaining to Federal and State taxes to appropriately perform job functions.

  • Responsible for assisting outside tax advisors with preparation of year-end tax reporting (including 1099’s).

  • Complete and submit other permits and licenses (i.e. Casino applications) and renewals for State, City, and Tribal Casino Licensing in a timely manner.

  • Report litigation for claims covered by insurance and with direction from senior management.

  • Summarize company requirements and track/ calculate State and Local Tax Incentive Agreements.

  • Oversee compliance with local and state licensing agencies.

  • Responsible for the overall management of certificate of insurance maintenance.

  • Manage, train and develop direct reports to enhance their career development.
