The Physical Therapist evaluates and treats patients in accordance with orders from the physician through the use of therapeutic procedures designed to address deficits in physical function and improve independence safety and quality of life. The Physical Therapist ensures quality, efficient physical therapy is provided to patients by managing the delivery of care throughout the course of treatment and delegating appropriate components of care to the Physical Therapist's Assistant under his/her supervision. The Physical Therapist participates as a member of the interdisciplinary team providing support and information within the area of physical therapy.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer minimum one (1) year experience in geriatric rehabilitation. Supervision, training and/or experience in a setting serving the same age/type served by this facility. Prefer membership in the American Physical Therapy Association

Minimum Qualifications

Master or Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy or Occupational Therapy. Current license/certification in the state of Mississippi. Demonstrated competency in identified areas of specialization. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Adequate computer skills in order to complete required job duties and computerized documentation. Demonstrated competency in applying principles, methods, materials and equipment used in physical therapy. Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.

Physical Requirements

Ability to walk, bend, drive, stand, sit and reach constantly during an eight (8) hour day/shift. Ability to speak and hear to understand and give directions. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess and monitor patient/resident needs, maintain accurate records, understand directions and recognize people. Fine and gross motor skills. Ability to push wheeled equipment throughout the facility and in the community. Work endurance ability to work eight (8) hour days/shifts. Ability to participate in sustained activity for up to three and one-half (3.5) hours at a time. Reading and comprehension skills for analyzing reports, charts and correspondence. Possesses highly developed communication and problem-solving skills.

Additional Information

Working Conditions: Typical therapy clinic environment. Strong organizational skills in order to effectively maintain multiple projects simultaneously. Requires creativity as well as the ability to work independently. Ability to be discreet and maintain confidential information.
