GPI is seeking a motivated Bridge Inspection Assistant Team Leader to join our growing Transportation team in Bridgewater, NJ. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced Team Leaders on various bridge condition inspection projects, primarily in New Jersey, with opportunities for travel to other states. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience performing inspections in accordance with FHWA and agency-specific requirements while developing the skills needed to advance into a future Team Leader role. Bridge inspection and transportation infrastructure are key service areas within GPI's Bridgewater office.

Responsibilities:
Assist Team Leaders with routine, in-depth, NSTM, and ancillary structure inspections.
Assist with planning, coordinating, and performing field inspections of bridges and related structures.
Collect field measurements, photographs, and inspection data.
Prepare inspection reports and documentation.
Assist with load ratings and developing repair and rehabilitation recommendations.
Coordinate with project teams to deliver quality work on schedule.
Work in compliance with all GPI and agency-specific safety requirements.
Support bridge rehabilitation and replacement design projects as opportunities arise.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
1-5 years of bridge inspection, structural engineering, or transportation-related experience.
EIT certification or progress toward professional licensure preferred.
Ability to work outdoors and travel throughout New Jersey for field assignments.
Familiarity with bridge inspection practices and FHWA guidelines.
Knowledge of AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar engineering software preferred.
Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Requirements
Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
Able to climb and leave a ladder to a platform varying from 6' to 20'
Able to operate a mechanical aerial lift or bucket truck up to a height of 100 feet
Able to wear and operate personal fall arresting apparatus, and work at a height of 6' or higher
Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
