Position summary: Applies standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.
Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
Compensation for this position is $30.00 - $40.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.
Essential functions and responsibilities

Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.

Review routine tests performed by contractor on concrete, soils, water pressure, and other items for accuracy and completeness

Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades, and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans, specifications, and applicable codes.

Verify construction material deliveries for compliance with contract submittals, specs, and drawings

Produce and maintains record documents during course of construction

Makes field notes and computations during course of construction

Develops and delivers accurate and detailed daily field reports for review by the project manager for submission to the client

Photo document construction progress

Review surveying stakeout and cut sheets throughout construction

Review contractor pay applications for work-percent complete and general accuracy

Required Experience

High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)

1-4 years of Construction Inspection Experience
Preferred Experience

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

Water/Wastewater construction or inspection experience
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
