We strongly welcome candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Be at least 16-17 years of age.

  • Have a desire to work with children under 13 years of age, previous experience preferred.

  • Have very strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Possess an understanding of WCSD, its goals, and its mission.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to supervise children by sight and sound at all times.

  • Must be able to move quickly to react to safety issues in the setting (i.e. climbing or aggressive behavior).

  • Must remain calm, objective, and respectful in potentially stressful situations( i.e crying upset child, parent, or staff).

  • Must be flexible and willing to adjust to change.

  • Staff must be in good physical and mental health and have the energy necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of their positions.

Certifications/Requirements:

  • First Aid/ CPR/ AED trained

  • Attends required professional development training

  • Completes required training mandated by WCSD.

Essential Responsibilities:

Activity Period

  • Activity leadership, including interaction with individual children and small groups.

  • Maintain a safe environment for all children in the program.

  • Display a positive attitude.

Preparation

  • Preparation of site set up

  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of snacks.

  • Know the emergency procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Adhere to the dress code policy.

  • Must have knowledge of and implement WonderCare Quality Standards.

  • Perform all duties as assigned.

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Site Coordinator, the Assistant is responsible for on-site activity leadership and working directly with children. Staff members must be qualified by training and experience to carry out their respective functions in the administration, operation, and maintenance of the Before and After School program.

Salary: Salary commensurate with experience
