Union County College is a public comprehensive community college providing quality, affordable, accessible educational programs that serve the greater Union County region. It is the oldest of New Jerseys 19 Associate Degree Colleges, serving both career-minded and transfer-oriented students since 1933. The College enrolls almost 30,000 credit, non-credit and continuing education students and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Many programs lead to the Associate in Arts, Science and Applied Science degrees.

General Description:

Responsible for assisting in the coordination and daily operations of the Union College campus food pantries. This position assists in providing staff support for the pantry, maintaining inventory, assisting with distributing and stocking donations/supplies and maintaining the pantry standards and guidelines.

Characteristics, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the daily operation of the food pantry locations on the Cranford, Plainfield and Elizabeth campuses.

  • Responsible for checking students in and out for each visit based on established pantry guidelines.

  • Assist and support any students that visit the pantry.

  • Assists in enforcing food pantry policies and procedures.

  • Oversees the upkeep of the food pantry ensuring safety and cleanliness.

  • Assist with the regular unloading, stocking and storing of food deliveries and donations.

  • Assist in the facilitation of pickup of food donations and orders.

  • Manage the food pantry inventory and report supply concerns to the Coordinator as needed.

  • Provide support for pantry themed programs and workshops including regular produce distributions

Education Requirements:

High School Diploma required.

Experience:

Prior food service and/or customer service experience is preferred.

Competencies and Skills Required:

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.

  • Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.

  • Some travel required.
