Work Schedule: 8 Hr (7:00AM - 3:00PM)

Pay Range: $45.59 - $66.16 per hour

Summary:

Under general direction, this position will assist with developing, monitoring, and providing leadership for the financial, regulatory, accreditation and client services policies and procedures for all of the clinical areas of the laboratory; assumes direct managerial responsibilities for the off-shift operations of the laboratories. The Laboratory Manager works closely with the Medical Director, the Administrative Director and Supervisory staff. This position provides back-up for and acts as the Administrative Director in the Administrative Director’s absence. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology

  • A minimum of five years in a laboratory management role

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • MBA or MS in MLS is desirable

Physical Demands:

  • Able to work in fast pace, often stressful, computerized environment.

  • Able to lift 15 lbs. and perform repetitive motions.

  • Works in laboratory with exposure to potentially infectious materials.

Competencies:

  • Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.

  • Strong Interpersonal skills with ability to work with individuals in the laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures smooth operation of the laboratory’s testing and reporting on the laboratory’s off-shifts.

  • Enforces compliance with all policies, standard operating procedures, and regulations related to routine operations.

  • Be available to the laboratory staff to receive information and address any matters in a timely and appropriate manner; attend and participate in laboratory meetings on a regular basis.

  • Provide assistance to the Client Services area; work closely with the staff to ensure efficient service to clients.

  • Work closely with the Medical Director, Administrative Director and Lead staff in developing, updating and monitoring the achievement of goals and objectives for the Laboratory.

  • Appraises employee performance and conducts performance review.

  • Assists with the maintenance of all policy and procedure manuals, ensuring updates as needed.

  • Compiles documentation for submission for laboratory accreditation.

  • Assists with guidance and oversight to ensure consistency across the laboratory in hiring practices, compensation, promotions and disciplinary actions.

  • Perform other reasonable and appropriate duties and responsibilities as assigned by+I723 the Medical Director and Administrative Director.
