Full job description

HFM BOCES is seeking compassionate, dedicated, and team-oriented Teacher Aides to support students with disabilities in a variety of special education classroom settings. Teacher Aides work closely with teachers and related service providers to help students achieve academic, social, communication, and behavioral goals while fostering a safe and supportive learning environment. The Special Education Department is accepting applications for full-time, 10-month Teacher Aide positions. Teacher Aides provide direct support to students with disabilities under the supervision of certified staff. Successful candidates are patient, flexible, reliable, and committed to helping students reach their fullest potential. There may be additional opportunity for summer work for the Extended School Year Program, but it is not required. Positions are available immediately.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma is required.

  • Experience working with children or individuals with disabilities is preferred.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated patience, compassion and a committment to student growth.

  • Ability to meet physical requirments associated with the position.

Fulton County Civil Service

This is a Non-Competitive Civil Service position. Applicants must be a resident of Hamilton, Fulton or Montgomery County in order to be considered for this position.

TEACH Clearance

Per Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on ability to obtain a fingerprint security clearance through the TEACH system prior to working.
