POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Solution Engineer – Energy Storage Systems will be a customer facing technical expert on the capabilities of the Qcells energy storage and microgrid solutions. This role involves assisting customers and partners to understand the specifications and capabilities of Qcells AC & DC Coupled battery solutions and then helping them create project designs to utilize those solutions to achieve their requirements in a safe, cost-effective, and compliant manner. This position supports the sales of Qcells Battery Storage solutions by leveraging major equipment from partners and integrating with in-house control & cloud solutions. This position will work closely with Qcells engineering team while supporting external customers. This position will be based out of Teaneck NJ

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the subject matter expert for commercial and community storage solutions including inverters, switchgear, transformers, fire safety and system components
  • Act as the subject matter expert for industry best practices, regulations, compliance, and standards around battery storage systems- UL 9540, UL1973, UL 1741, NEC (National Electrical Code)
  • Support the product & engineering team in defining system solution, partner & component selection
  • Support Sales Representatives for feasibility with due diligence and validating preliminary design prior to contract.
  • Review single line diagrams, electrical / mechanical drawings, and BESS system layouts, and utility/AHJ requirements
  • Work with equipment supplier/vendors to obtain the required information for design completion
  • Participate in design review meetings, track issues and effectively document resolution
  • Maintain professional knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, participating in professional societies and meetings
  • Accelerate time to market by incorporating MVP (Min. Viable Product) approach
  • All other duties as assigned by Senior Management. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Power System, Electrical, Electronics or Computer Engineering
  • 8+ yrs. experience as design engineer, applications engineer, technical sales of inverters and battery solutions
  • 3 + yrs. experience interacting with Battery storage solutions, Utilities, ISO’s, IPP’s in US market
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in pressure situations
  • 3+yrs. project management experience with battery storage products deployment
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, ETAP or SKM experience performing Load Flow, Short Circuit, Relay Coordination, and conductor sizing
  • Ability to generate single line, three line, and wiring diagrams for battery storage systems
  • Experience with PV design tools (PV Syst), programming SEL relays and RTACs
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle and contract structures for solar, storage or renewable projects Hanwha Q CELLS America Inc.
