Substitute Diesel Technology Instructor
Location: Heber, UT
Status: Part-time
Hours: As needed: Monday – Friday; 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. –2 :45 p.m
Pay/Salary: $26.49 -$29.80/Hour
Summary
Guided by the Director of Programs and Program Coordinator, the Substitute Diesel Technology Instructor plays a vital role in preparing students for successful careers in the diesel field. This position delivers engaging instruction, assesses student progress, and continuously improves course materials and lab competencies to align with industry standards. The substitute instructor serves as a role model for professionalism in both classroom and lab settings, maintains relevant certifications, and actively contributes to program development and student success.

What You'll Do:
Responsibilities of the Substitute Diesel Technology Instructor include, but are not limited to:

Delivering effective instruction and supporting student learning within the program.

Reviewing and executing lesson plans.

Actively engaging students throughout the entire scheduled class period.

Providing clear guidance to help students grasp the lesson material.

Maintaining classroom discipline and ensuring a productive learning environment.

Accurately recording student attendance.

Creating and maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment.
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking professionals who are passionate about teaching and committed to excellence. Successful candidates will have:

Education & Experience: A high school diploma (or equivalent) is required. An associate degree or certificate in Diesel Mechanics, Auto Technology, or a related field, plus three years of industry experience, is preferred. A combination of education and six years of industry experience will be considered.

Certifications: T-6 and T-8 ASE certifications are required, and achieving Master Technician status within one year of hire is required.

Expertise: Strong knowledge of diesel systems, troubleshooting, repair techniques, and industry best practices.

Teaching & Leadership Skills: Effectively mentoring, motivating, and instructing students.

Strong Communication & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to engage with students, parents, industry professionals, and educators professionally.

Professional Development: Commitment to continuous learning and ongoing professional development in manufacturing and/or education.
