As a Senior Operations Manager at our HOU6 building in Richmond, TX, you'll be at the helm of one of the largest and most technologically advanced fulfillment centers in the Amazon network. What You'll Do

Own the operation – Take full accountability for budgetary performance, people development, and operational excellence across your functional area (Inbound or Outbound).

Lead and develop leaders – Manage, coach, and mentor a team of Operations and Area Managers, setting clear expectations and holding them accountable while building the next generation of Amazon leaders.

Drive continuous improvement – Champion Lean initiatives, process innovations, and quality programs that push your team and the FC to exceed business goals.

Deliver a world-class customer experience – Ensure safety, quality, and performance standards are met or exceeded every single day.

Collaborate cross-functionally – Partner with HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, and peer leaders to secure resources, share best practices, and drive site-wide success.

Cultivate ideas – Source and nurture innovative ideas from your team, translating them into actionable improvement plans that raise the bar across the network.

Share best practices – Take proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and the broader network.

Additional Job Elements to this Hands-On Leadership Role

Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each

Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head

Walking in the FC and around area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length

Continual standing and/or walking an average of 5 miles daily

Ability to work in construction / distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, not air-conditioned

Able to access all areas of building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation)

HOU6 is a 3.7 million-square-foot, five-and-a-half-story Amazon Robotics (AR) Sortable Fulfillment Center, one of the largest in the network, holding an inventory of more than 40 million small- to medium-sized products

Packages travel on 15 miles of conveyor belts inside the building, and the facility ships approximately 350,000 items every single day

HOU6 launched in Q4 2021 and has since become a beta testing site for Amazon Robotics technology, including the Sparrow robotic workcell and ToteASRS Sequoia systems

In 2026, HOU6 was selected as the base of operations for Amazon Prime Air drone delivery in the Houston area, with dedicated drone launchpads and operations offices being built on-site

Richmond is located in Fort Bend County, one of the most diverse and fastest-growing counties in the United States, just southwest of Houston

Conveniently located 14 minutes from Sugar Land, 18 minutes from Katy, and 33 minutes from downtown Houston

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of equivalent experience

  • Work flexible hours as business demands, including overnight, weekends and holidays

  • 7+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment

  • Prior experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques

  • Prior experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and termination

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations

  • Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation

  • Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations or related field. MBA preferred

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
