Echocardiographic Technician

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience

  • RCDS

  • AHA BLS

Position Summary

The Echocardiographic Technician performs diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations to support the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of Veterans with known or suspected cardiac conditions. The technician works independently and collaborates closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure high‑quality imaging and patient care.

Duties

  • Perform complete and limited transthoracic echocardiograms, including 2D, M‑mode, spectral and color Doppler imaging.

  • Obtain accurate measurements and thoroughly document findings in accordance with VA and cardiology laboratory protocols.

  • Prepare preliminary imaging summaries for physician interpretation.

  • Maintain and operate ultrasound equipment, performing routine quality checks and reporting malfunctions.

  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and proper positioning during all imaging procedures.

  • Assist with stress echocardiograms and emergency studies as required.

  • Adhere to infection control, safety standards, and VA policies.

  • Support workflow efficiency by managing exam scheduling, patient preparation, and timely data entry

Work Schedule:

Monday-Friday 0800-1630
